i've noticed that milk is a big issue for most of you... so i decided to re-post the recipe for the oat milk which you can make at home with only 3 ingredients.
personally i don't drink cow's milk even though i'm not lactose intolerant. i believe that pasteurization does more than killing off harmless and useful germs...the missing beneficial bacteria weaken the immune system. the process also CAUSES lactose intolerance and other food allergies. and did you know that 1/3 of the pasteurized milk is contaminated with dangerous pathogens?
if you like cow's milk then choose the organic raw milk which btw is very difficult to find. but this kind of milk still contains all the beneficial bacteria, vitamins and minerals and it's totally safe for people who has lactose intolerance.
another reason why i don't drink milk is CASEIN... casein is a protein found in milk but it's also used in processed foods and in adhesives and paints. casein mainly prevents the nutrients to be absorbed properly by our body by this sticky barrier it creates in our stomach. i'm not saying casein is bad for you... you just have to know when it's the perfect time to consume it.
so what are the other options?
the perfect options is ALMOND milk, of course. lactose free, sugar free, delicious taste. unfortunately in some countries sugar-free almond milk is very difficult to find and if you can, it is very expensive.
please avoid soy milk if you are not a woman in menopause... and especially if you are a man. and please, don't give soy product to your kids.
RICE milk is too high in sugar on my opinion. same for the OAT milk...but not if you make it yourself! oat milk has many benefits and it's very well tolerated by people with allergies. keep in mind that oats are "virtually" gluten free so if you have a gluten intolerance or allergy make sure you buy oat flour that hasn't been contaminated by gluten.
bring to boil 2 cups water with 1/3 cup (60g) oat flour and a pinch of salt. when it thickens, remove from stove and pour into a blender with another 2 cups of water and 1 tsp stevia. i also add 1/2 or 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder since this milk has an insignificant macro content. blend everything together. keep refrigerated, shake before use.
macros for 100g: 2.1g protein, 3.9g carbs, 0.5g fat, 28.8 Kcal
costs: 0.30 euros/ $ 0.39 per litre (4cups approx)
try it with unsweetened cocoa and some stevia!
