whether your goal is losing fat or building muscle, it’s important that you consider what you’re eating before bed. having a meal before bed that includes the best muscle building foods will ensure that your body works hard while you sleep to rebuild your lean muscle tissue, allowing you to grow stronger.
why it’s important to eat before bed?
eating before bed time is crucial because you’re about to enter a period of starvation of around 8 hours. if your muscles don’t have the necessary amino acids flowing to them during this time, it’s very likely that your body will start cannibalizing itself.
since none of us feels like cooking a full meal or snack before bed, you need to prepare it in advance... when you are cooking dinner, maybe... or prepare the snacks a week ahead and freeze them
LATE-NIGHT PROTEIN PANCAKE
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 egg white
1 tsp cocoa, unsweetened
stevia
1 1/2 tsp peanut butter, natural, unsweetened
a few drops of butter-vanilla essence, natural
blend everything together until smooth. pour in a small pan sprayed with olive oil (or coconut oil) and bake on a very low heat covered with a lid. turn over when the top is not liquid anymore and cook uncovered on the other side for a minute or 2.
sprinkle with cinnamon and stevia. enjoy 30 minutes before bed time.
i like to have my pancake semi-frozen so i prepare it in advance and place it in the refrigerator for an hour or so.
remember to adjust the calories of this meal based around the goals that you’re working towards for the most optimal results possible.
