GLUTEN... LET'S BUST ANOTHER MYTH!

what is gluten?
gluten is a protein found in many carbohydrates, such as wheat, barley, and rye, among others. basically, most cereals, pastas, breads, and the like contain gluten.

people who don't digest gluten have a disease called celiac disease which affects 5-10% of the population. but what about the rest 90-95% of the population? it seems like everybody has gluten sensitivity nowadays. people say that gluten makes them bloated, that it makes them gain weight etc. so where does the truth stay?

first of all, if you think you are intolerant to gluten, you should get tested. some people are not intolerant, they are just a little gluten sensitive. this means that they can experience some bloating... but this can be from consuming carbs anyway.... gluten is mostly found in processed carbs and these are certainly bad for you. so if you reduce or eliminate these processed carbs from the diet, you'll certainly lose weight.... but it won't happen because you eliminate gluten. it will happen because you eliminate foods like bread, cereal, pasta, muffin, pastries, hot dogs, soy sauce, beer, deli meats, ketchup... all these foods contain gluten.

gluten itself is NOT BAD. in fact, it's a very precious protein. unless you have a true gluten sensitivity or allergy, there's absolutely no need to eliminate gluten. what you certainly do need to eliminate is processed junky foods. if you decide to eliminate carbohydrates containing gluten like pasta, bread etc. you must substitute them with healthy gluten-free alternatives like amaranth, buckwheat, quinoa, rice, oats etc. eat your carbs! they don't make you fat!

gluten-free products are not healthy... they are still processed! gluten free hot dogs, cookies, bread... doesn't sound healthy or natural at all.

so all this gluten-phobia is just another stupid marketing invention. eat natural, that's it!
